Michelle Hale Barker, Your Niece says:

Uncle J, I will miss you always. Thank you and Aunt Bobbie for so many wonderful memories. Our family will never be the same without you but I know you are "home" now where there is no more suffering and no more pain. You always told us not to ever let you and Bobbie be separated and I tried hard not to ever let that happen. Now that you are with Jesus and reunited with so many of our loved ones, I know you will keep looking after Bobbie like you always have. Mama and I love you so very, very much. Jesus we praise you for the hope of eternal life and the chance to be reunited with our loved ones again one day. J, we love you- always.

Patricia "Pat" (Church) Genzer says:

I will never forget you, cousin Clifton Jay (and Bobbie, too!) Melton! My mother, Hazel (Melton) (Church) Bowden, told me all about you and your sister, Mazel -- how close you three were as young children and how much you three cried when my Grandfather (your Uncle Alex Melton) moved his family to Texas from Tennessee! Mom always called your Clifton, so I called you Clifton Jay!

I enjoyed meeting and getting to know you and Bobbie, at your beautiful home and farm, on one of our several visits back to Tennessee. I was truly amazed how much you looked like and had many of the same mannerisms of my Paw (my Grandfather Melton). We immediately had a family bond! Through the years, my mother and I enjoyed visits with all four of you -- you, Bobbie, Mazel, and Clyde. Two of my brothers met you, too, and we all had a great time with the wonderful hospitality we were always shown by all of you!

I'm sorry I didn't know about your strokes and quick passing away, but I'm so glad you didn't suffer long. I look forward to someday joining the grand reunion in heaven of all the Tennessee and Texas families who so loved each other! You and Bobbie had some real heartache in your lives, but you still loved God through it all. I'm sure Jesus permanently wiped away your tears the second you met him, face to face!

I promise to pray for Bobbie until she meets you again -- and you'll be so happy to see each other fully restored to the loving couple you've always been! I'm sorry I won't get to see you on my upcoming short trip to Tennessee, but I'll visit Bobbie along with your good friends Mary and Robert. All my love to you both, Clifton J and Bobbie!
