Parks, Judy Carol -

Judy Carol Parks

Lynchburg - On April 18th, 2018 Judy Parks passed from this earth. Sadness and sorrow are always the first emotions associated with the loss of a loved one. Though I share those feelings with the rest of my family, I also feel a deep sense of pride and the desire to celebrate and share the wonderful life of this woman.

Born in 1955, she lived through the Kennedy assassination, the moon landing, Vietnam and the Watergate scandal. She was mother to not only 4 of her own children, but at various times in her life, she helped raise or raised a slew of cousins and her own granddaughter after the untimely death of my sister. She was a woman who put others above herself, sometimes at her own expense. She was tough… a fighter. She singlehandedly kept our family together after an accident left my dad bed ridden and out of work for months. She worked, and though we didn’t have much during that time, she made sure that we had food on the table and gifts under the Christmas tree that year.

My mother supported me when I made the decision to move to Los Angeles. She wasn’t happy about it, but she understood it was something I had to do. I regret not getting to come home as often as I or she would have liked. I'll carry that with me… I will also carry thousands of wonderful memories; family vacations, concerts, stalking her favorite country music singers at their houses. We will miss our mother, and though her time on this blue rock was far too short, she mattered. She mattered to me and to countless others, and at the end of the day, that’s all any of us can hope for when we are remembered. We love you Momma, you will be missed.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elizabeth Smith; brothers, William Smith and Michael Smith; sister, Bonnie Smith; daughter, Jennifer Parks Rottenberger.

She is survived by her husband, Dale Parks; three sons, Bubba ( Brittany) Parks, Jeff (Heather) Parks, Timmy (Whitney) Parks; six grandchildren, Tyler Parks, Daniel (Amie) Parks, Bradley Parks, Josh Parks, Ashlee Parks, and Beth Bowers; three great grandchildren, Olivia Parks, Skyler Parks, Bella Park; sisters, Vickie (Kenny) Hill and Brenda (Keith) Vaugh and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from five o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening on Friday, April 20th at Tullahoma Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 21st at two o’clock in the afternoon at Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lynchburg, TN

I will always hold the many memories of my aunt Judy close in my heart. I still get a goofy smile on my face when ANY Alabama song plays. Takes me to a happy place in my childhood. Never will I forget the yr I turned 9 and my sister had to go to an out of town hospital for surgery. Me and my other sister went to stay a few days with my aunt Judy and uncle dale..and even though my mom had given my sister a party for our birthday my aunt Judy made sure I didn't feel as if my birthday had been forgotten..that night after supper a surprise cake was pulled out of the fridge..made by my aunt and my cousin..???? man in sure going to miss this amazing woman for the joy and smiles she is even now still able to put on my face
