Ledford Bryan, Maymie Elizabeth -

Coffee County - Maymie Elizabeth Ledford Bryan passed from this earth on November 8, 2013, at Emeritus Assisted Living, her residence for the past 3 years. She was born on September 19, 1915, on a farm in rural Coffee County. She was the only child of the late Arthur Clyde and Thula Eveline Moore Ledford. She graduated from Tullahoma High School, which at that time was located at the site of the old East Lincoln Elementary School. In her teens, Maymie worked for a local variety store in Tullahoma. In the 30?s, she was employed by Genesco Shoe Company and later South Central Bell Telephone Company. During World War II, while her husband was stationed overseas, she worked in the Lannom Tannery office. She was a member of The First United Methodist Church, a former member of United Methodist Women, Tullahoma Woman?s Club and Lakewood Country Club. She was a past Cub Scout leader and Boy Scout den mother. She enjoyed needlework and had a passion for flower gardening. She will be remembered for her quiet and gentle spirit. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Harrell Bryan, in 1995, former owner of Bryan Oil Company; and her son, Jack H. Bryan in 2009. She is survived by a son, Robert M. Bryan; daughter-in-law, Jane Gray Bryan; daughter, Joyce Bryan Miller; and son-in-law, Samuel K. Miller, all of Tullahoma. She has five grandchildren; Catherine Bryan, Taylor Bryan, Matthew Miller, Andrew Miller, Gena Miller Covington and 8 great-great grandchildren. Her family extends heartfelt thanks to the employees of Emeritus, Hospice Compassus and personal sitters for their compassion, perseverance, and kindness during her last several weeks. A gathering for friends and family will be at Tullahoma Funeral Home on Monday, November 11, from noon to 1:30 p.m. A private graveside service will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
