Ewell, Louise June -

Coffee County - Louise June Ewell passed away September 9, 2010 from respiratory failure at the Life Care Center in Tullahoma, Tn. She was born July 15, 1927 in the Gnat Hill Community of Coffee County to a large family. Albert A. Shaw and Tennessee Roxie Rigney had four sons and five daughters. Louise was preceded in death by parents, brothers and sisters Wiley, John, David Geneva, Julia, Pearl, and Anne; her brother Mickey survives her. In 1942 Louise married the love of her life James Isaac Ewell whom she met at a church revival. They had 58 years together and Louise has mourned his death deeply for the past ten years. Louise loved education and strived to better herself throughout her lifetime. She was only able to attend school until the eighth grade, and then she was put to work. In her early thirties Louise decided to finish her schooling and earned a high school diploma (while she still worked a full time job). That wasn?t enough for her so she went to LPN school and earned her state nursing license. Still not enough, she went to the Nursing school started by Motlow College and became a degreed RN. Louise was part of the first nursing staff at Harton Hospital and had a long nursing career spanning over 30 years. Other survivors include daughter Joanna (Jess) Lewis of Manchester and daughter Paulette (Randall) Carr of Cross Plains, TN., eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be held Saturday Sept. 11, 2010, 5 PM until 8 PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Monday, Sept. 13, 2010 at 11 AM in the Chapel at Spring Hill Cemetery in Madison, TN with placement of her body beside her beloved ?Ike? in the Mausoleum.
