Cardwell, Joseph David

Harvey - Joseph David Cardwell, age 80 of Tullahoma died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the V A Medical Center in Nashville. He was a native of Harvey, Ill and the son of the late Thomas Edward and Leona Cardwell. He was a Methodist and a United States Air Force and National Guard veteran. Mr. Cardwell was an avid hunter and fisherman. He coached Little League, Babe Ruth, and the Connie Mack Leagues and was a manager and board member of the Mountain Valley League. He retired from Arnold Engineer Development Center where he worked as a planner. He was also preceded in death by his wife Martha Norman Cardwell and a daughter Mona Lisa Cardwell
He is survived by sons Mark Cardwell, Los Angeles David (Lisa) Cardwell, Tullahoma; a daughter Stefanie Harris (Anthony) Smith Nashville; a step son Bobby (Susie) Fisher, McDonald, TN; brother Charles (Billie) Cardwell of Tullahoma, and sister Ruby Luttgus of Florida, grandchildren Sarah Cardwell, Angela Cardwell (Chris) DeLucenay, Trey Cardwell, Julie Cardwell; Gino Harris, Marty Joe Harris, Mark David Harris, Todd Fisher, Melissa Fisher (Ryan) Zemeski, Paige Fisher (Bill) Towers, thirteen great grandchildren. To his grand children and great grand children he was known as "Peepaw".
Visitation with the family will be 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Saturday evening at the funeral home where services will be held 1:30 pm, Sunday in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev and Honorable Samuel H. Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery.
As a survivor of cancer the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 850 Fort Wood St. Chattanooga, TN 37403.
