Ledbetter, Sonja Kay -
Tullahoma - Sonja Kay Ledbetter, age 81, passed away on April 11, 2020, surrounded by her loving family in Tullahoma, TN. She went confidently to the arms of her savior, with a heart filled with the love, of her family and friends, and peace in her heart. Sonja was born May 20, 1938 in Atlanta, GA but lived most of her life in Tennessee and called Tennessee home. She was the daughter of the late Guy Truell Wells and Stacey Satterwhite Wells.
She graduated from Tennessee Tech with a Social Science degree, where she met her husband of 58 years, Carl Brown Ledbetter. She spent her career caring for people as a Rehab Counselor for the State of Tennessee in Shelbyville, TN. Sonja was a genuine southern lady devout to Tullahoma First United Methodist Church, and loved water skiing, square dancing, sewing, and Tai Chi.
Sonja leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband Carl Ledbetter, daughters Valerie Ledbetter of Atlanta, GA, Krista Ledbetter Carr (son-in-law Buddy) of Newman, GA and Cheryl Ledbetter of Sewanee, GA. Affectionately known as “Mee Maw”, she was the proud grandmother of Aaron Michael Carr and Morgan Nicole Carr of Newman, GA. She is also survived by her sister, Lavonne Wells Finley of Memphis, TN. She will lovingly be remembered by her brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Pam Ledbetter, along with many nieces and nephews.
Sonja’s endless zest for life and care for others endeared to her countless people, and she will be dearly missed by family and friends.
A celebration and memorial of life will be held at a later date, when all Sonja’s loving friends and family can come together for the celebration.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, an organization dear to Sonja’s Heart.
